Getting started

So , here we go. I've been inspired by my friend Elizabeth to get rolling with a blog. A great way to get some thoughts out and also share day-to-day and weekly events with my family and friends. Please be patient as I roll this out. I guarantee I won't be posting reliably but certainly as I remember and as life allows I will do this.

So, let's start with today, any ordinary day in the Bloss household (sooo boring for those who don't know us).

We woke lazily today with James and I up at an unusually late 6:45 am with Grace trailing behind around 7:45. I think she's become a teenager already because she no longer has any interest at all in getting up in the mornings.

We ran non-exciting errands all morning and then went and met Wayne for lunch near his office. I figured since we all slept so late, I could push things a bit and we went over to the library very close to nap time (around 1pm). We had some fun there and here's where life goes wild....it was time to leave and I see the look on James' face...you know the pre-meltdown look. I knew it was coming but had no idea what to do. I'm encouraging the 2 kids that it's time to leave but I see it growing in him...the evil James...the tantrum boy...the stubborn combination of Wayne and me (not good)....and sure enough....he begins to scream! Not just cry or whine a bit, but a full-fledged from the bottom of his diaphragm scream! IN THE LIBRARY! So of course we couldn't be near the door but were further in the back of the room. I had to carry my beautiful screaming boy all the way out of the library!

I really don't know what to do when this happens. It's generally caused by a lack of judgement on my part - I've pushed him too long and then he uses it to take control of the situation. But what's a girl to do? If you have any advice on this - I'll certainly take it.

The rest of the day (post-nap) went just fine and we ended the evening with Parents As Teachers at the Tiny Tot Olympics. It was fun and chaotic (I don't think expected such a big turnout). Here are some photos:

They're getting so big. I almost don't know what to do. Even with a big tantrum day, I'm so happy that I get to spend this much time with them.

Can't wait to hear your comments. I'll try to update this as much as possible!

Nice work getting started. I wish had had tantrum-handling advice for you, but I imagine if I did, I just might bottle it and sell it :)
